Wireshark-bugs: [Wireshark-bugs] [Bug 9520] Add RFC 6514 support to BGP dissector

Hi,

I do agree ; current version of wireshark do support multicast VPN as describe
in draft-rosen-vpns-ospf-bgp-mpls and has not been updated yet to RFC 6514.

Surprisingly enough it looks like BGP mcast NLRI decoding is still quiet valid
even so it would require some checking.

Adding this extended community and more globally support of multicast VPN
requires a bit of time for both standard review and existing code review. Once
done, I should be able to see what is still valid and what needs to be added.
Unless we find someone that has been working on this part of the BGP stack,
this RFC support decoding requires some time.

I am working with Alexis on a patch version of extended community, I will
discuss with him if adding support of the RFC is doable at the same time as my
code refresh but it is quiet of a challenge and knowing Alexis not desirable as
well :-).

I would recommend a dedicated patch for this RFC support, it represents a
significant amount of work.

My 2 cents,
Matt.
