After applying the patch, testing the code, and reading the resulting source
files carefully, I'm surprised by how thorough, and respectful the
modifications are.
>From additional testing, it seems that dissection of ISO 7816 payloads (tested
with a trace from reading a passport using Secure Messaging over 14443-A),
MiFare command payloads, and FeliCa payloads still works nicely - although it
appears that "Unexpected data" expert info messages sometimes appear.
Not a big deal, though...
I look forward to seeing more excellent progress! :)
