Hmm, is your subversion tree clean or do you have some GUI-related changes in
there?

The only idea I have at the moment is to try switching back to GTK2 ("make
clean; ./configure --with-gtk2; make") to see if there's something wrong with
your GTK3 installation (or our detection thereof?).
