Hi Cal.
I thing that your patch is not necessary now. It causes flickering of packet
details pane in case of clicking on bytes in packet bytes pane. Your bug was
correctly resolved by r50516.
Try to expand all the trees in packet detail pane and try clicking on some of
last bytes of a packet
