dumpcap is a separate program used by both wireshark and tshark to do the
actual capture. it is one of the programs in the Wireshark suite.
It can be used standalone to do a capture which is written to disk .
dumpcap is a fairly small program does no analysis of data.
>From the command line:
dumppcap -w <filename> may be all that is required.
(You probably will need to run dumpcap from a command window "running as
administrator").
dumpcap -h shows options for specifying the interface, etc.
