By the way, I tried with another application, namely Microsoft Word.  If the
x+width hangs outside the viewable range, then no adjustment is made to bring
the entire window into a viewable position.  So this behavior would seem to
favor patch #1.

But then again, if you change screen layouts so that there's some dead space,
this program happily opens with its x0,y0 within the dead space, which would
seem to indicate that there actually is no bug here at all, if we were to go by
that.

(Testing on Windows XP SP3 w/dual 1680x1050 monitors in various arrangements.)
