The change in question may fix what might be a bug introduced by the fix for
bug 6922; that bug caused garbage error messages to show up if an open of an
rpcap URL failed. The fix for 6922 *might* cause bogus reports of rpcap
failure (if there's a code path wherein a pcap open succeeding but modifying
the error buffer is treated as a "succeeded with a non-fatal problem"
indication, with the error buffer displayed as a warning; I don't remember
whether we do that, but we shouldn't be putting a "gee, this failed, but
WinPcap can't be bothered to tell us why" indication if the open *didn't* fail,
so the fix to the fix is the right thing to do in any case).
If nobody reports a crash with rpcap in 1.6.8 or later, and nobody reports the
error-dialog-but-the-capture-happens-anyway problem with 1.6.9 or 1.8.1 or
later, I'll close this. Speak now or forever hold your peace....
