Bug report #6544 seems to be a duplicate of this report, but on Mac OS X 10.5

I just wanted to report that I, too, can reproduce this crash upon startup in
wireshark 1.6.3, on Mac OS X 10.6.8; and I know of at least one user with the
same crash on Mac OS X 10.7.

Older versions seem to work fine. Looking through the list of changes that
accumulated in the wireshark repository since 1.6.3, the following commit
caught my notice, and it indeed addresses this very crash:
<http://anonsvn.wireshark.org/viewvc?view=revision&revision=38045>

I can only guess that whether creating that mutex cause a crash or not is
system dependent, which would explain why it works on some systems but not
others.
