Actually, it looks as if it's a lot simpler than I thought - some stuff after
one of the version strings in the header that I'd figured was random crap from
the header is actually a record, so if I start looking for records 8 bytes
earlier in the file, it works in all three cases.

I've checked in a fix in rev 39645.

Does the PC108 software show a "Start Monitor" entry in the RR.aps file?  If
not, then the 8 bytes I thought was random crap in the other two .aps files was
probably the "Start Monitor" entry.  If so, what does the PC108 software show
right after the "Start Monitor" entry?  If it's not an RR frame, that's
probably what the record in the RR.aps file right after the version string is.
