I tried reproducing this in 1.4-latest (1.4.6) using your method and could not
see the problem. I tried running Wireshark under Valgrind and it did not
complain (even with emem chunks turned off). Do you see the problem when your
custom dissector is not there?
As described in the history of this bug, no particular fix was made, it has
just not been reproducible.
