I think the key word here is "may", as in doesn't have to be. Its validity as a
URL should still be checked by the reader, and if invalid revert to using the
URL of the item itself.
Maybe something for the Mozilla bug report.
Still using a isPermaLink attribute with value 'false' would help avoid
ambiguity, although there may be others that don't like that one...
