Note, BTW, that this is really a WinPcap bug, not a Wireshark bug; we rely on
libpcap/WinPcap for capturing.  libpcap 1.0.0 and later have APIs to request
monitor mode, and that's supported by Wireshark 1.3.x and thus will be
supported by Wireshark 1.4 when it's released, so WinPcap could use that. 
libpcap currently has no APIs to get a list of available 802.11 channels or to
set the channel; that might show up in libpcap 1.2.0 if I find time to
implement it for Linux, *BSD, and Mac OS X; it would be up to the WinPcap
developers to put that into WInPcap.
