I think the build tools are getting confused by having tools in jhbuild (such
as libtool by the proper name libtool), while MacOS X has a totally unrelated
libtool so they renamed GNU Libtool to glibtool. I remember reading the
instructions for building native GTK for OS X using jhbuild and it says that
having other tools (such as from macports/darwinports/fink) and jhbuild can
break things. Do you have any of those?

jhbuild and those other package management systems on OS X drive me crazy. I
tried building a native OS X GTK the other day again and all I did was compile
pango and gtk for quartz and re-install them (I compile everything from source
on OS X so I don't have to waste time waiting for Macports/Darwinports/Fink to
install its own copies of things that come with the system such as zlib).
