Common practice is to send screenshots when requesting help from external
support. This is because sending actual traces violates security best
practices -- there may be sensitive data that you don't want a 3rd party to see
while they help you troubleshoot.

A possible alternative would be to have an option for obfuscating certain
fields. In this way, I could specify certain fields within the trace that I
want Wireshark to suppress or change. A possible extension to this idea might
be use this feature for annotation -- "when you see this IP, replace with
Siteminder Policy Server; when you see that IP, replace with Novell
eDirectory".

Some examples below.

Suppression:
checked      Suppress raw bytes
unchecked    Suppress details

Obfuscation:
ip, eth, ldap.LDAPMessage

Annotation:
ip.addr==xxx.yyy.zzz.101       replace: Alteon
ip.addr==xxx.yyy.zzz.102       replace: Siteminder
