I installed wireshark from a package for ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala. The version
is 1.2.2.

Well, but if you want to run dumpcap as privileged user you still need to ask
for super user password. Hence the code has to be changed such that the package
has to use the super user privileges only for dumpcap and not for wireshark as
a whole (If it is not already done that is). The menu entry has to still ask
for super user password, "gksu wireshark" as in gnome, not just wireshark
without privileges as dumpcap won't run.
