Thank you for the pointer.

I have checked out revision 30722 from the trunc-1.2 and retested:

During capturing, exactly if the "-S" option has been added, memory usage 
is increasing at a high rate as before. 
This seems to happen with all types of output (I tested "-S" and PDML "-S -T
pdml"). 
My guess is that the leak is not in the output producing functions, but in the
fucntion that compute the data model behind the output.
