I don't have a space in my $HOME path so probably has nothing to do with this.
Also be backtrace hints towards fonconfig issue, but like it was said in
Comment #2, I should now be operating with a vanilla Snow Leopard X11.

Guy, is this what you have? (From System Profiler | Applications)
