OK, this must be years ago. And you will not be able to interwork
with anyone else...
Regarding the 8: It is coded nowhere... I take out 4 bytes of the parameter
value. That is all. If the parameter value is longer (the length is more than
8 bytes), it would just be ignored. If there are less, wireshark will report an
error.
I always planned to add plausibility checks for the lengths, but up to
now never found time to do it.
