Yes, the producer ID is an IP address. The spec says: "ProducerID: TCP/IP
addresses of the sender based on EGD config, not actual address"

This is an I/O exchange protocol. The data is a blob of 1's and 0's (I/O
points). This part is application specific--it can't and shouldn't be dissected
further.
