I looked at your patch and thought about it's application for a bit. I do find
it useful to have the file index between a prefix and a suffix. 

What I have a bit of trouble with is the usefulness of adding the current
date/time to the filename. As it will have no relation with the data in the new
tracefiles. More so, on a fast PC, when the splitting is done within 1 second,
the date/time will be the same for each output file. 

I think the date/time can be omitted from the filenames *or* it should be the
date/time of the first packet in the chunk.

What do you think?
