I think solution with conversation filter is fine. Anyway, when I was posting
this bug I was not aware of the "Flow graph..." function under statistics menu,
which separates conversations graphically based on IP and ports. This partially
does what I wanted, but conversation coloring would still be nice.

However, I think it may be done not by abstract notion of "conversation" but by
specific protocol field. When I right click on a protocol field (e.g. SIP
Call-ID), there is a context menu option "Apply as filter...". I suggest
creating a similar option referring to coloring rules instead of display
filter. Or it could even be a suboption of "Apply as filter". So that you would
right-click on SIP Call-ID, in the context menu you'd select "Apply as coloring
rule" and in submenu - a color.
