Wireshark requires random access to the file (if you're trying to use "-r -")
and it doesn't support capturing from stdin. It does support capturing from a
named pipe, though.
The request to read or capture from a regular pipe is in the Wishlist:

in the "Capturing" section currently numbered as #15. Since it's already
there, I'm closing this bug.
