It should read:

If a memeber of a CHOICE is ***NOT*** given a specific tag, and the member
datatype can indirectly contain the same CHOICE, a stack smasher loop might be
triggered.

The bug in 1342 can be worked arroud by actually tagging the member in
trunk/asn1/mms/mms.asn:1363
