Ok, I've done a little bit more investigating here. Here's what I've
discovered:
This problem does not occur when I use tcpdump, no matter what I do.
This occurs using wireshark no matter what interface I capture on.
The version of tcpdump I'm using was supplied by Apple and linked against
libpcap supplied by Apple.
The version of wireshark I'm using was installed with MacPorts, and linked
against libpcap from MacPorts.
When I install tcpdump using MacPorts and attempt a packet capture the Airport
drops.
I'm going to re-file this bug against libpcap. You can close this if you like.
