I don't remember, but I know surely I was trying to do everything according to
INSTALL.
I didn't run autogen.sh unless it's explicitly requested in the INSTALL
instructions.
I also didn't have a reason to specify different --prefix, because /usr/local
is
default in configure and it's also the default on OpenBSD. I surely didn't
specify -static, because I didn't have a reason to do so, plus I know it often
breaks the compilation.

I guess the -static must be getting there somehow automatically. I can try
compiling once more if you need to be sure with something, or try things you
suggest to me to try or check.
