Wireshark-bugs: [Wireshark-bugs] [Bug 1032] New: Incorrect packet analysis of outgoing wifi broa

Date: Sun, 6 Aug 2006 07:34:24 +0000 (GMT)
http://bugs.wireshark.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1032

Summary: Incorrect packet analysis of outgoing wifi broadcast
           Product: Wireshark
           Version: 0.99.2
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Low
         Component: Wireshark
        AssignedTo: wireshark-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
        ReportedBy: awagner@xxxxxxxxxx

Running Fedora FC5 updated to Wireshark 0.9.2 as downloaded in Fedora RPM
"wireshark.x86_64.0.99.2-fc5.2" running with a RaTech rt2600 PCI wifi adapter.
The packet displayed in tyhe attachment was obviously miss-analized.
The first 6 bytes (ff ff ff ff ff ff) are analized as "frame control and
flags"but looking at the raw data would seem to indicate the 6 bytes are a
broadcast address. The following sis bytes are indeed the HWAddress of my PCI
WIFI adapter. It is beyond my limited knowledge to determine just what the
packets true analysis should be but the shown analysis is not correct.
