I have been using ethereal to capture and analyse packet transfers to understand why some connections run slower than they should. Some of these connection have different speed in different direction so the byte count is important to the speed. I have exported the summary traces to excel and used a simple check on address to tag packets as Uplink or Downlink, but I am having to manually enter the physical byte count by reading it from the ethereal packet details window.

Is there anyway I can add byte count to the packet list window so I can include that in the export.

FYI, what I am trying to do with this is to build a model to identify the up and down throughput limited performance for a number of typical transfers and then compare with some actual performances to see what is causing our unexpected delays.

I would really appreciate your help.

Thanks

David
