Indeed. I haven't encountered this one before.

1. is this hub a real (and not a fake) hub?

Does "fake hub" mean switch? If so, I'm fairly sure it's a hub. It's aNetgear 24-port 10/100, model DS524.

2. Do you use promiscuous mode for capturing?


Yes. (I see nothing otherwise.)
