Hi,

I've noticed that whenever Firefox goes to a website
(for example ebay.com) it sends out 3 DNS queries, but
only receives the IP address of the server after the
third request. Here's what ethereal records:
Standard query AAAA ebay.com
Standard query response
Standard query AAAA ebay.com
Standard query response
Standard query A ebay.com
Standard query response A 66.135.192.87

Strangely enough, when I ping a website (for example
lycos.com), there is only one DNS query and an
immediate response containing the IP address.
Standard query A lycos.com
Standard query response A 209.202.248.101

The problem I have with Firefox querying 3 times is
that I often have to wait 5 seconds before the page
even starts downloading. Does anyone know what's
happening here and how I can make Firefox get the IP
address from the first query?

Thanks,
Vlad
