Hello everyone,

I have two AP's AP-1 and AP-2 in the same ESS. I am
using the ssid "test" for both of the AP's. I am using
Kismet to see 802.11 management frames during handoff
when moving from BSS of AP-1 to BSS of AP-2. There is
a strange behaviour I am seeing.

The dump file when seen in Ethereal shows only the
authentication frame sent by STA to the AP-2 and the
association request to AP-2 and not the authentication
frame and the association response to the STA by AP-2.
If I use the different ssids for two Ap's, I am seeing
all the packets properly!

I ran the experiment several times to confirm that
Kismet is not dropping the packets. Can anyone explain
why is that happening or what is the problem or is
that the property of 802.11b.

Thanks,
Anshul
