I don't know.

I downloaded the Ethereal 0.9.1 source, configured it with

	./configure --prefix=/opt/gnome --exec-prefix=/opt/gnome

did a "make", and did a "make install"; it installed in
"/opt/gnome/bin", not in "/usr/bin".

What does "/usr/bin/ethereal -v" report?

Did you have a "/usr/bin/ethereal" file *before* installing the Ethereal
you built from source?
