I'm in the process of creating a non-GUI, stand-alone application using the Ethereal source code to produce a fully-formatted 'exported' file, from a libpcap-type Ethereal capture file.  I've successfully created the beginnings of the application using MSVC, version 6.  The answer to a couple of questions would help a great deal and save me precious man-hours of searching:

1).  Where is the 'export'-ed, output file populated from the data contained in the Capture file, the capture file being specified with the 'w' option when Ehtereal is executed in 'command-line' mode;
2).  The input (the 'capture file') is specified as *stream in all the print-to-file dialogs I've seen.  Why is it defined as such and can it be defined as a standard 'C' FILE?
