I have a (probably) similar problem on my old Slackware 8 box; sent a 
backtrace to the list a few days ago.

Here it gives no error messages at all, it just segfaults. When I try to 
save a capture it does so and blows up afterwards (the capture is saved 
OK) and when I try to save the output of 'Follow TCP stream' it leaves a 
zero-length file and does not save anything.
