After a little research it seems like the scenario I am
going for is called "machine in the middle" and requires 2 ethernet cards in one
machine configured to act like a "bridge". How is this accomplished on Windows
XP? Will any ethernet cards work?

Subject: [Wireshark-users] traffic sniffer
I'd like to sniff all of the traffic on my home wireless
network. I tried setting up Wireshark on a PC connected to the wireless router
(linksys) but was only able to capture traffic to/from that PC. So, I'd like to
put a PC with wireshark on it inbetween the wireless router and the cable modem.
Some questions:
1. Is this the best way to capture all
traffic?
2. what hardware would I need (ethernet
in/out?)
3. the wireless network is web secured, will the
captured traffic be encrypted?
If you have other ideas, let me know what the best way
to monitor all traffic going in and out of my home wireless
network.
