Also, I just tried the download process and install from "root".
If am guessing correctly, wireshark.app is made in /applications

Right?
the timestamps seem to check.

in any case, this crashes ...and no longer do I get the original console messages with "com.finkconsulting.wireshark[650]" in the readouts but now always see readouts such as that which is included below.

So my question then is which way and how do i put wireshark back into Leopard?

Sorry to be a pest to all with such a fundamental and boring issue. I'd used this since Ethereal but seem now, in leopard, to have a mix of nearly similar wireshark apps pointing back and forth at one-another.
