Your browser/OS these days will in usually be smart enough to recognise that if you have IPv6 enabled but no useful paths outside of your local network it want use them.

That's an interesting theory. My browser (Firefox) indeed has IPv6 enabled by default while my network is IPv4 only. If that's really the problem, why doesn't the awful delay *always* occur for any site I go to?
