I was able to reproducibly crash Wireshark (at startup) by not specifying a DNS server in the network-adapter dialog of Windows. Once a DNS server is specified (even if it is a dummy IP) then Wireshark starts up fine.

Version: 1.2.0
OS: Windows XP Pro SP3
Ethernet: Broadcom 10/100
