OK, in the trunk we now have, in the File menu:
Save As - always attempts to save all packets and, if the save succeeds,
makes the new file the current capture file;
Export Specified Packets - lets the user specify which packets to write
out, defaults to displayed packets (and those the displayed packets depend on
for reassembly - that's new in the trunk), and never makes the new file the
current capture file.
Having "Save As" not save all packets would make it different from "Save As" in
other applications - it should be a "save all I have" operation, just as "Save"
is. (Note that "Save" now means "save all the packets *AND* whatever changes
I've made to packet comments", and thus
1) only asks for a file name if you're saving a temporary file - otherwise
it just saves the file out without asking the user anything
and
2) can be active even if you've already done a Save, if you've edited
comments since then
making it behave the way "Save" acts in other applications.)
I'm inclined to retitle this to "have the 'save specified packets' operation
default to saving displayed packets" and close it. "Save As" shouldn't be that
operation.
