MPCP is used as a part of the IEEE 802.3ah to negotiate discovery of EPON ONUs
and assign upstream time slots to ONUs. MPCP is added to the MAC Control
protocol (Ethertype 8808). This enhancement includes recognition of MPCP
opcodes in the MAC Control protocol as well as parsing of MPCP packets.
