Based on recent developer mailing list conversations about
proto_tree_add_item() and its encoding argument, the advice in the developers
guide was out of date and incorrect. This patch changes the text to use
ENC_BIG_ENDIAN in the code samples and updates the corresponding descriptive
text.
Also, a typo in the makefile was fixed.
