I launched the PortableApps menu from my flash drive as a non-administrative
user, then ran the PortableApps version of Wireshark from the PortableApps
menu. Because PortableApps was launched without administrative privileges,
WinPcap can't install. I get a dialog box with the message “WinPcap 4.1.2
requires administrator privileges to be installed. The installation will be
aborted.”

This is normally ok because I'm not going to capture traffic from this machine;
I'm going to use Wireshark to view trace files that were captured elsewhere. I
click OK and Wireshark Portable runs. I load a trace file and everything works
fine (except that I can't capture, of course) until I click Statistics >
Summary. A dialog box pops up with the following message:

“Runtime error!”

“Program: ...rtableApps\WiresharkPortable\App\Wireshark\wireshark.exe”

“This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact application's support team for more information.”

I click OK and Wireshark shuts down. When I run Wireshark again, I see that
changes made during the last session were not saved.

If I run PortableApps as a user with administrative privileges, WinPcap
installs and the crash does not occur.
