          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Enhancement
          Priority: Low

        AssignedTo: wireshark-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Build Information:

I marked OS as other. I didn't see "emacs" in the list... ;-)

At least for the emacs portion of the modeline generator comment character is
not sufficient. Emacs sets indentation differently for each mode.

For example setting a comment character of # doesn't actually achieve the
desired result for perl.

depending on the vintage of you emacs perl mode you need one of the following
two settings.

'cperl-indent-level' or 'perl-indent-level' instead of 'c-basic-offset'

cperl-indent-level is older (and I think not so common anymore).
perl-indent-level is newer, but it is safe to set them both just to be sure.

The language could be in addition to, or perhaps in place of, the comment
character radio buttons. Or something like that.
