All capture filter preparation, including the MAC and host name resolution, is
done by libpcap on UNIX-compatible systems such as Linux. As such, this is
either a libpcap problem or a host configuration problem, but certainly not a
Wireshark problem.

FWIW, I updated the man pages (in rev 32452) to indicate that the "personal"
ethers (and hosts) files that Wireshark uses aren't used by libpcap when
resolving names for the capture filter.
