I checked in a possible fix in r31360. If Wireshark is compiled with c-ares
get_host_ipaddr and get_host_ipaddr6 will now time out after 250ms. This might
cause a problem if you type in a valid address which happens to resolve after
250ms, but I think that's a much less annoying problem.
