In Wireshark 1.2.0 and greater the "order box" for the preference/columns
dialog has been replaced with drag-and-drop. To change the order of the
columns from within this updated dialog simply click-and-hold one of the rows,
drag and it up or down the list of columns to your desired position, and then
release the click.

FWIW: The view/coloring rules dialog still has the "order box" as does other
dialogs like the preferences/Name resolution/(smi paths|smi modules|geoip
database directories). I'm guessing that over time someone may update these
and any other dialogs with an "up/down" control to use the drag-and-drop method
if only for the sake of end user expectation.

Can you again try 1.2.1 and see if using drag-and-drop within the
preferences/columns dialog works as expected?
