It's not relevant - both libpcap 0.9.5 and libpcap 1.0.0 try, on systems with
BPF, to open a BPF device for reading and writing and fall back on opening it
only for reading if that fails with EACCES, so they will both open only for
reading if that's all you can do.
The change in SnowLeopard was a change to BPF, not to libpcap.
