Centralized Wireless architectures use Access Controller (AC) as controller for
number of Wireless Terminal Points (WTP). The CAPWAP protocol is designed to be
flexible for various centralized wireless technologies. For development and
troubleshooting of CAPWAP protocol, we need CAPWAP protocol packet analyzer.
Wireshark® is used for the development of CAPWAP packet dissector. The CAPWAP
dissector is written as a ‘plugin’ in Wireshark.
The standards/Drafts used for CAPWAP Protocol are:
1. CAPWAP Protocol Specification
(draft-ietf-capwap-protocol-specification-07)
2. CAPWAP Protocol Binding for IEEE 802.11
(draft-ietf-capwap-protocol-binding-ieee80211-04)
