Updated patch, adressing mentionned concerns [against svn trunk @27150]
This patch uses plurality macro as suggested.
The double detection has been replaced with tvb_get_letohieee_double() in the
hope that it properly converts all doubles from x86 format to approriate host
format.
I will try to get and attach a small dump covering all part types and having
gauge (double) as well as counter (uint64) values. This way you can have a look
at the results on the various arches/platforms I have no access to.
