When I compile on Fedora Core 10 Linux (64-bit) with --as-needed passed to the
linker via gcc by setting LDFLAGS to '-Wl,--as-needed' I run into a totally
different problem.  I'm passing --with-lua to the configure script.  The
configure script's test program for including the lua lib runs into linker
errors for math functions such as trig, floor, ceiling and square root.
