The recent gtk-2.14.1 release has a fix for the "type-ahead search" problem.

The new version of the GTK libraries should appear as part of the Windows
Wireshark development install packages once the current Windows Buildbot build
error is corrected.  (See http://www.wireshark.org/download/automated/win32/)

(I would expect that any package with SVN-26165 or greater should have the
updated GTK libraries).
